Cancer UK-Salone and Africell Sierra Leone Limited signs MOU to support cancer care in Sierra Leone
Cancer UK-Salone, a non-governmental organization that aims to bridge the care gap in cancer care in Sierra Leone and the UK has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Africell Sierra Leone Limited, a leading mobile network operator in the country, to support cancer care in Sierra Leone.
According to the MOU, Africell will provide technical including branding support to Cancer UK-Salone in its efforts to increase awareness about cancer and improve access to cancer screening, diagnosis, and treatment in Sierra Leone.
Africell will also promote cancer prevention measures and provide information about cancer care through its communication channels, including text messages, mobile applications, and social media.
Cancer UK-Salone will conduct virtual and face to face cancer awareness and life style change discussions and or related training to Africell partner universities and colleges affiliated with Africell or it’s affiliates.
This partnership is significant because cancer care in Sierra Leone has been severely impacted by the country's healthcare infrastructure challenges, limited resources, and lack of awareness about the disease. The collaboration between Cancer UK-Salone and Africell Sierra Leone Limited has the potential to improve cancer outcomes and save lives by increasing access to information, resources, and treatment for cancer patients in Sierra Leone.
The MOU was signed by Tina Davies, OBE, OOR President Cancer UK-Salone, Kippy Debs, Africell Customer Relations Director and witnessed by Angie Stankovic, Trustee Cancer UK-Salone.
